“A person who is not mentally balanced will always harm Animals, and the poor”
Introduction :
In India, we are observing so many cruelty cases each year, which not only result in animal death but also lead to an imbalance in society. Every harm is interconnected; we can’t say that we are only cruel to animals. Being cruel to animals, we are also cruel to the environment and to mankind as well. Our emotional resilience is questioned when we see any cruelty cases around us and stay inactive. I am attaching some facts and data for a better understanding of the topic. According to PETA INDIA (2024) report indicated their team worked on over 3,000 cruelty cases throughout the year, leading to nearly 100 First Information Reports (FIRs) being registered. The Federation of Indian Animal Protection Organisations (FIAPO) reported over 4 lakh animal cruelty incidents between 2011 and 2021, with an estimated 50 animal deaths per day.
My Experience :
A day when I was returning from my morning run, I saw a calf lying dead on the road. That road was very active, and it was around 07:30 AM in the morning. I immediately approached to the government vetenary helpline number, which was not picked up. Then I have called to Forest Department, the number was also not answered at the end, I have called to Police. Meanwhile, I was able to make connections to the police it was around 07:45 Am, the police helpline assistant has assured me to would provide help. Till from somewhere I found a piece of carpet from which I have covered the calf. Later, within 15 minutes police PCR Van came; they have noted all the details. Now, the head constable has approached to Municipal Corporation, but they have not taken it seriously. And we were there till 08:30 Am, but no one was there except the police personnel and me. From that road, around 100 or so vehicles passed maximum of whom were belonged to higher authorities in government. I was trying to just provide a decent burial so that the calf could be prevented from being butchered.
